Winter Athlete Development

Inside Edge and Port Coquitlam Minor Hockey (PCMHA) combine to provide high-level hockey development for its members. IE will provide experienced, high-level tenured coaches to support the development of Poco's Minor hockey players, starting with the Fall Development Power Skating and Edge Control.

U7 Lil Pirates FUNdamentals

  • The Little Pirates Development Program features a fun environment where kids are challenged with games and drills. The players are placed in smaller groups on the ice with kids of comparable ability so that everyone gains confidence and can interact with each other at a similar level. Not only do kids grow their hockey skills, but they also make tons of new friends, develop their social skills, grow confidence, and, of course, have a ton of fun.

U8 / U9 Full Ice Concepts / Battle & Compete

  • The Full Ice Concepts Clinic is tailored to help with the transition from half ice to full ice. Players develop situational knowledge of full ice hockey utilizing drills to help advance their understanding of the game. Players will learn key concepts of the game and time will be provided to play full ice games with coaches stopping the play to help educate players as they play. During our Battle & Compete Program, players will be working through situations that are transferable to game play. Each ice time, we will be working through drills that force players to be adaptive in their thought process from both sides of the puck. Body, stick, and puck placement play a critical role in forced outcomes of game situations.

U11/13 Intro to Advanced Dynamic Skating

  • Intro to Our Advanced Dynamic Power Skating and Agility Clinics offer a more introduction to the next level of power skating. This level will be introduced to power and resistance training as well as stride and edge improvement using basic on ice plyometrics. Stride efficiency to lateral quickness, acceleration and agility, these clinics will address all techniques that are required to play the game of hockey.

U8 / U9 Battle and Compete / Skating Development

  • During our Battle & Compete Program, players will be working through situations that are transferable to game play. Each ice time, we will be working through drills that force players to be adaptive in their thought process from both sides of the puck. Body, stick, and puck placement play a critical role in forced outcomes of game situations. Power Skating and Agility Clinics offer an opportunity for the minor hockey player to improve their skating skills. Through correction and repetition, these programs provide comprehensive instruction on all aspects of skating.

U11 / U13 Battle and Compete

  • During our Battle & Compete Program, players will be working through situations that are transferable to game play. Body, stick, and puck placement play a critical role in forced outcomes of game situations. This clinic is suitable for all player positions and is recommended for those looking to understand the offensive and defensive perspective in a multitude of game situations.

Goalie Development

  • Goalie development training program that will have you fine-tuning your technique, improve your positioning, and develop lightning-fast reflexes. These sessions will build the technical fundamentals that it takes to become a successful goaltender. We will cover skills such as skating, puck tracking, rebound control, playing the puck, your positioning and overall understanding of the game. Sessions will include goalie specific power skating and goalie specific game like stations that will challenge kids ability to read and react to certain situations and build their hockey IQ. All sessions will be run by Austin Caktas of goaliecoaches.com and include a 1 to 3 instructor to goalie ratio.
